THANKS:   We owe a big thank-you to Tom and Martha Hicks.   Since they moved into the Club, they have been very active residents.   Tom has worked with the sound system, and Martha is the Summer Welcome Chairperson.   This past year, they have chaired many of our dinners at the clubhouse.   Most recently they did the evening Mystery Theater, "Murder at Sea."   (Too bad the snowbirds had to miss this production).   Now, they have a Pirate Hunt and Feast planned.   We appreciate all you do for the Club and are happy you are residents at KGC.       --SJB

SEAT BELTS and AIR BAGS:   Some of you know that Fred and I were in a bad automobile accident earlier this summer - not our fault.   Our Montego was "totaled."   We had our seat belts on - as we always do - which was fortunate.   The air bags deployed, which was scary.   Fortunately, though we were sore and stiff for over a month, we had no broken bones.   I am reasonably sure that if we had not been using seat belts, we would have been badly hurt.   The air bag hurt, but again it could even have saved our lives.   Thanks to those of you who offered prayers for us and/or checked to see how we are getting along.   We now have a new auto and took it to Milwaukee two days after we got it - round trip about 700 miles.   To go back to our accident, it was within ten miles of home (they say most accidents happen close to home).   Since many of us will be traveling within the next month or so, I offer the following advice:   Be sure you use your seat belts at all times!      --SJB

TRAVEL:   All payments for I Love A Piano - $55.00 due today.   We have 2 seats still available.   Travel desk will be open today.   This play is a matinee show, on September 26, at Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre.
Our travel schedule is posted on the web page, and click the ship, as well as in the last several newsletters.

FORMER RESIDENT NEWS:   Fred and I recently had lunch with Betty Ruth Raygor, who now lives in a suburb of St. Paul.   Betty Ruth lived at the Club for many years before returning north to be closer to her family.   While at KGC, she was Round Table Chair, Chair of the Fair, on the Board and took part in many activities.   She has fond memories of her years at KGC and sends greetings to all of you.      --SJB

THOUGHTS:   About this time of year, I start counting weeks until our return to the Club.   I can really count the days now, as our plan is to return south the early part of October.   They will be doing some extensive work on the elevator at our apartment (out of service for over a month), so it's a good excuse to return to KGC.   Looking forward to seeing "you all" in the near future.      --SJB
