LINE DANCING is purported to ward off Alzheimer's and is a fun way to get some exercise.   We meet twice a week at 9 AM, in the clubhouse, doing all easy dances on Thursdays and slightly more challenging ones on Tuesdays.   Although the style we use is Country Western, we dance to all kinds of music.   We are always happy to have new dancers.       ---June McMains

MARDI GRAS PARTY:   Instead of the normal Pot Luck Supper, on Saturday, February 20, the committee planned to have a Mardi Gras Party.   We chose a catered meal, and hired a Dixieland Band for dancing and listening to, for the evening.   The committee was made up of the following people: Tom and Martha Hicks, Chairpersons; Ron and Mary Carpenter, Asst. Chairpersons; Tom and Kathleen Olsen, Decorations; Judy Spears, Ticket Sales; Gerry Coleman, Angie Richards and Jack O'Malley, Tickets; Sandy McIntyre, Tickets, Posters and Pictures; Chuck McIntyre, Video.   The following people worked on decorations, set up, and clean up:   Jim Walker, Judy and Jim Blow, Rod and Lucy Kent, and Dick Lyford.   I would like to thank any other folks who helped during the Mardi Gras.   We sold 107 tickets to the meal and six tickets to the after-the-meal dance.   We also had a 50/50 raffle.   We used the Milan Catering Company out of Sarasota. They served a Cajun style meal of Jambalaya; there was plenty of food and everyone was happy with the meal.   The Band was the "Dixie Spirits" of Englewood, and they were outstanding for listening and dancing.   We even had dancers here until 10 PM - Outstanding.   The band led a typical Mardi Gras Parade with all participants in New Orleans colors and masks.   The parade went through the hall out onto the patio and back into the hall.   They even picked up a funeral procession out on the patio, and they joined in!   Cheryl and Tom Patricca were chosen as the King and Queen of the Mardi Gras and they led the parade.   The Mardi Gras Party was a huge success, as far as folks enjoying themselves. ---Tom Hicks, Chair
(And we want to thank Tom and the entire committee for another GREAT evening at King's Gate Club.   It was wonderful to see so many people dancing and/or listening to the music.   THANKS TO ALL OF YOU).

THOUGHTS:   Since the Fair is now only three weeks away, and it is our big money-maker for the year, if you haven't yet since up to help, do so today.   See Chuck McIntyre or one of the Committee Chairs.   Besides helping the Club, it is a wonderful way to meet your neighbors and make new friends!       ---SJB
