HOLIDAY TOUR OF HOMES:   Just a reminder!   Today from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM King's Gate Club is sponsoring a Holiday Tour of Homes.   A large Christmas Candy Cane will be placed at the curb of all homes that will be open.   Come and enjoy this festive holiday event.

HEALTHLINE:   Dick Madden is due home from Venice Hospital this week end.   He was told that his new knee comes with a guarantee that it will cut his golf score in half.

SINCERE THANKS to all who sent sympathy cards, called me, or stopped for a visit concerning my son, who passed away on November 12, 2008.   He retired after 20 years in Submarine Service.   He is to be buried at sea.       ---Eleanor Gregory

VOLUNTEERS are needed for Chairperson(s) for the 2008 Christmas Dinner.   And also for providing cookies and light snacks after the Christmas Golf Cart Parade on December 17.   Please see either Jim Purkey or George Agricola if you would like to volunteer for either of these programs.

GREAT LAKES LUNCHEON:   Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin residents are invited to an outing at Millies on Clark Road, Monday December 8th, at 1:00 PM.   Sign up sheet is in the Clubhouse.   Please wear nametags.   Any questions call Loretta Brian at 488-0664.

GUIDE DOGS:   Baron and Duchess will be visiting KGC next Saturday at meeting, December 13th. There will NOT be a "Kennel Supplies" Christmas collection this year. Our contribution to SEGD to "Name a Puppy" has increased and kennel supplies did not count towards our quota.   KGC Guide Dog committee will have ONE Annual Fund Raiser on February 14, 2009.   Baron, Duchess and other guests will visit for this event.   However, Cash and Checks to: Southeastern Guide Dogs, are welcome at any time, from anyone, for any amount.   There is an OPEN HOUSE at SEGD campus, 9:00 AM - Noon TODAY!!! LIBRARY NOTES:   You will notice that there has been a slight shift in the library shelving this month and next. Our Fiction and Mystery collections are going to be joined together, as some of the mystery authors also spill over into the fiction section and vice versa.   hardback and paperbacks will still be separated.   As mysteries are brought back, we will relocate them to the fiction shelves and eventually have everything copacetic. PRAYER SHAWL GROUP meet Thursday's, at 10:00 AM in the Activities Room.   All knitters and crocheters welcome!!   Want to learn how?   Come on over and we will start you out.       --- Barb Tompkins

COMPUTER USERS:   Join us Friday mornings at 10:00 AM in the Activities Room.   The first half of each meeting will focus on topics of interest to inexperienced users.   second half of each meeting will show new things you can do with your computer once you're comfortable with the basics.   We'll start each meeting with a Q&A for inexperienced users; at the very end of the meeting will be a Q&A from more experienced users.

REGATTA:   Sunday December 14 at 1:30 PM will start our 2008 season of the regatta.   For the new residents of the Club, we gather at the pool and race remote control boats of all sizes and shapes.   All genders welcome.   We serve hot dogs and drinks and in the past some wonderful ladies have donated tasty cookies and other goodies.   ask for donations for the food, no tickets or charges are placed on this event.   We are looking for new people to join in the fun this year.

REMINDER: To all those who will participate in the Regatta on December 14th, your boats must be cleaned with a bleach solution before entering our Beautiful Pool. The bacteria's and algae's from other waters can be harmful to our pool.       ---KGC Pool Operators

LADIES' HOLIDAY LUNCHEON:   The luncheon at Venetian Golf and River Club was delightful...delicious food, lovely decorations and a beautiful setting.   Thanks to Chairperson Posie Gallaher and her committee - Margaret Calkin, Mickey Fournier, Ann Franco, Ruth Ingerick, and Ann Kellum - for planning such a delightful party.   As usual, Kings Gaters' were generous and enough money was donated to purchase eleven bikes and helmets.   Plus, there was enough money to purchase a lock for each bike.   (Can't you just see some happy kids on Christmas when they receive these bikes and equipment!!).   Margaret Calkin gave the Invocation.   Ron Carpenter had the distinction of being the only man at the luncheon as he entertained us with his singing and playing the keyboard, and, as usual we enjoyed his music.   Thanks to Nip Barker for printing the tickets and posters.   Door prizes were given from the Flea Market Boutique - not from the cost of the tickets.   Thanks to all of you - it's a wonderful way to enjoy the holiday season.
