CONDOLENCES: Vivian Isackson of 258 Camelot Drive, a long time resident in King's Gate Club, died peacefully on June 1, 2008. Cards and condolences may be sent to the family at the home of one of her four sons: The Isackson Family, c/o Charles Isackson, 12536 Camwood Trail, Baxter, MN 56425. Memorials to The American Cancer Society.
SUMMER MONEY MATTERS: I am going to be gone from June 8th until September 1st. During this time, Angie Richards, Lois Luther and Jim Purkey will be handling the treasurer duties for the Round Table. They each will be gone at different times during the summer, but you can catch one of them at the back table on Saturday mornings. You can leave mail in my mail box in the office also. Everyone have a good summer. See you all in September. ---Jessica Prentice
VIDEO: Two new DVD's - 27 Dresses with Katherine Heigl and Walt Disney National Treasure 2 with Nicolas Cage. ---Jean Ickes
GUIDE DOGS: On May 27th, "KGC-KING" was graduated as a guide dog. His "Life Partner" is Raymond Bishop and they reside in Missouri. We will be able to communicate with Raymond in about six months. Lorraine (Puppy Raiser) was able to visit with King at graduation. We were really surprised this week when we received a letter from Jim & Pat Bryson (300 Ave. of Dukes) from Connecticut. They made a presentation to their local Lions Club about KGC's efforts with Southeastern Guide Dogs. The Lions were impressed and gave Jim a check for $1000 for SEGD. Jackie and I personally hand delivered the check to SEGD. These funds will supplement our "Name a Puppy" project. Amazing work Jim & Pat. See the Guide Dog bulletin board for more information. "KGC-Baron" notebook can now be viewed at the bulletin board location. Last week Lisa Davis delivered to SEGD four large bags of towels and linens that our residents have donated. Also, a brown bag full of donated used eyeglasses. Lions Clubs are very active at SEGD and they take the used glasses for their programs. "YOU" are the reason these projects have such GOOD NEWS to report. Couldn't happen without "YOU". Thank "YOU" all. ---Jackie and Nip Barker, committee
OHIO CLUB meeting in Columbus Ohio on June 26th 2008 at Schmidt's German Village, all Ohio people and any guest are most welcome, contact Bob Winchester 614-451-9801. We always have a great visit, it is fun to get together.
LIBRARY NEWS: We added Maeve Binchy's Nights of Rain and Stars, even tho it's 2004 copyright. She has a great following at King's Gate Club.
Question of the Week: How can I find out if you have a particular author or title that I want to read?
Answer: We make out a title and author card for each book in the library. Our card catalog is the black and white boxes kept on the shelf between the paperback and hardback mystery sections. The card should have the genre that it is under, as mystery, paperback and the author's name. If you see a paper clip on the author that you look up, that means it is missing for our 2008 inventory. PLEASE LEAVE THE PAPER CLIPS ON THE CARDS. We are half way through the author cards and should be finished with our inventory by July.
Browse through our nonfiction shelves, those books feel a bit neglected, they want to get off the shelves too.
Your Bookie, Barb Tompkins

RECIPE: In April, shortly before we headed north, Ellie and Don Lambiotte had us to their home for dinner. As you know, Ellie was a wonderful cook. I asked her for one of the recipes to share with all of you, and she brought a copy of it over to the house. It is printed below as a tribute to our wonderful Ellie.
If some of you have recipes you would like to share with us, we will print them in the Newsletter this summer. Please send to me at my northern address (see Telephone Directory) or email Shirley Bethke Hope to receive lots of recipes. - Shirley Bethke
