THANK YOU: I want to thank everyone for the support and for the donations to the Jimmy Fund that I have received recently. When I am riding those 85 miles this summer, I will keep in mind all those that supported me and also those who are fighting that dreadful disease, cancer. It is wonderful to live in a place like KGC, to have a "family" that really cares. Also, I know that many of you are members of the local Moose. You might be interested to know that the Ladies of the Moose donated a very generous check of $250 to me. Now you know where all that raffle money and 50-50 money goes --- to worthwhile causes!! Thanks again. (I will let you all know how the ride went after August 2) ---Debby Hatch 122 Camelot
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: I am reaching out for volunteers for the Food Pantry Program. We need someone to help once a month during the summer months while a lot of our regulars have gone north. It's just 3 hours, 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, at the South County Food Pantry on the Island. It is easy and quite rewarding work. If you can give some of your time, please call Joan Cherwa at 488-2794. Thank you.
CONGRATULATIONS to Sandy McIntyre as the new president of the Literacy Volunteers of South Sarasota County. The Literacy Volunteers tutor in English and Reading to help people better their lives and become useful citizens. This is a big job, and a huge responsibility - best wishes to you, Sandy.
LIBRARY PATRONS: Please sign out your books! Unsigned books are lost to the other patrons when they look for them. In a short inventory the other day through the A & B authors, there are 46 books missing. Signing out books does two things:
1. It allows the library staff to see if the book is circulating.
2. It lets others know what unit has the book if they want to borrow it.
Thanks to all who have been signing out books. To protect yourselves from people who just go into the return basket and take books out without putting the cards in and signing them out, please put the cards back in the book pocket and cross out your name. That way, you are protecting yourselves. We will put the books back on the shelves. ---Thank you for your cooperation, Barb Tompkins
NEW LAWN SERVICE: Beginning in June, KGC will have a new lawn service crew. The name of the service is Nanak.
CORRECTION: Last week the newsletter included a new address and phone number for Ginny Ewing, who lived at 323 King Arthur Court. The phone number was incorrectly listed. The correct phone number for Ginny is 330-264-2166
CHANNEL 33 CHANGE: For the summer months, please send articles for Channel 33 to Dee Hicks at firstname.lastname@example.org or 45 King Arthur Dr. or 485-2482. Thank you.
