HEALTHLINE:   Since October 17, Lydia Johnson has been improving daily after having cervical neck surgery to relieve severe flattening of her spinal cord.   Cards may be sent to Lydia at 64 King Arthur Dr. Please give Healthline news to Ellie Lambiotte, 181 Princess Avenue, 486-1749.

CONDOLENCES:   Our sincere sympathy to Jim Veverka on the death of his wife, Carol, on Friday, Oct. 31st, in Wisconsin.  Carol had been a resident of King's Gate Club since 1979.  She was an avid card player and organized the Wednesday afternoon Bridge group that she chaired for over 20 years.  Carol attended most club events and always worked on the annual Fair selling 50/50 tickets.    Cards may be sent to Jim at the northern address in the KGC Telephone Directory.  

OHIO LUNCHEON:   Thurs. Nov. 20th, 11:30 a.m. at New Century Buffet at the Sarasota Square Mall, next to Sears, Great variety of food, coffee, tea, soda, tax and tip, $8.50 per person, NO COUPONS.  All new Ohio residents are most welcome, come join us and meet other Ohioans.  Sign-up sheet in hall, wear name tags.  Any questions please call Mary Lou 484-6807.

GUIDE DOGS:   "Open House" at Southeastern Guide Dogs in Palmetto, Sunday, Nov 9, 2003 - 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  Limited food items are available.  This is a Round Table charity.  Get a carload and visit. This is your opportunity to see the Dogs in training and tour the complete facility. FLAG ETIQUETTE:   For those who have flags on display that can be lowered and raised…..On Tues., Nov. 11th, Veterans Day, the American Flag may be flown at Half Mast from 8:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.  This honors all our deceased Veterans.            --- Vince Caudy

LETTER FROM CAROL VEVERKA RECEIVED NOV. 1:   Please put in the Newsletter that many do not know that all Campbell's labels have been saved in a box provided in the back of the hall.  These labels benefit the schools.  I've been taking them to the Laurel-Nokomis School each Fall when I return and then again in May.  Also, please inform any Card Chairman who needs pencils and signup tablets to see Eleanor Barth as I have given any extras I had on hand to her.

SHUFFLEBOARD SCHEDULE:   The 2003-2004 Shuffleboard season starts Monday, November 10, at 9:30 AM.  Team captains will deliver the schedule prior to the first day of play.  The Shuffleboard chairpersons are Tom Patricca, Ralph Garver, Sandy Garver, and Rich Davis.

FORMER RESIDENT NEWS:  Jean Murphy, wife of William Murphy formerly of 210 Castle Drive (1986 - 1991), passed away October 13 in Leesburg, Florida.

ONCE UPON A TIME AT KING'S GATE:  Sincere thanks to Don Moriarty for this wonderful series.  Many of you have told me (and hopefully you have told Don also) that you thoroughly enjoyed reading these articles.    You can look forward to more King's Gate history next summer.             --- Sandy McIntyre
