ONCE UPON A TIME AT KINGSGATE
        (From the KGC Journal 1978)
Construction gets under way.  Al Smith Construction of Sarasota was awarded the contract for construction of the Castle recreation complex and in October 1978 the buildings were well under way.  Lang Pools of Tampa have been awarded the pool and whirlpool contract and both will be completed by December 1978. McNeil and Company of Tallahassee are scheduled to complete the sewer plant and two lift stations by December 15th, 1978.  The Dennis Dale Pipeline Company was well under way with the manholes and sewer lines in October.  Lynn Morey III, Jon Knapp and Al Nelson make up the real estate team at the King's Gate Club with Lynn Morey, Jr. in charge of construction.  At the construction meeting in October it was announced that the Publix Foods Mart and Eckerd Drugs would be the first stores at the shopping center to open at Laurel Road and Route 41 in December 1979 and there would be a stop light at that corner.  I-75 bridges are under construction at Shakett Creek.  The King's Gate access to I-75 by way of Route 681 from Route 41 will be available in early 1982.      --- Don Moriarty
